🏕️ Family Camping Trip and Scout Recognition

- Families are encouraged to attend this fun fall weekend at French Creek State Park.
- Located about 40 minutes away, it is close enough that nobody needs to pack like they are crossing the Oregon Trail.
- Scouts will enjoy hiking, leadership training, and plenty of time outdoors with friends and family.
- We will also hand out merit badges and recognize the hard work our scouts have been putting in. Applause is encouraged. Embarrassing parent cheering should be kept to a reasonable roar.
Come for the camping, stay for the recognition, and leave with a scout who is somehow both tired and still asking what is for dinner.
🪶 OA September Fellowship Weekend

- This weekend is for Troop 105 scouts who are members of the Order of the Arrow.
- Scouts will head to Camp Horseshoe for the OA September Fellowship Weekend.
- Expect a weekend of cheerful service, fellowship, and time with fellow OA members.
- This is an OA members only event, so if your scout is not in the OA yet, this is one of those mysterious weekends where they will hear about it later and wonder why everyone came back tired but smiling.
OA members, pack your gear, bring your spirit of service, and prepare for a weekend at Horseshoe with your fellow arrowmen.
🗽 NYC Camping Trip and Big City Excursion
Date: October 2nd to 4th, 2026

Activity: NYC excursion, ferry ride, sightseeing, pizza, and trail food cooking
Location: William H. Pouch Scout Camp, Staten Island, NY
Details:
- Troop 105 is heading to Staten Island for a camping trip with a full blown New York City adventure mixed in.
- Scouts will take a ferry, see the Statue of Liberty, visit the World Trade Center site, and eat authentic New York pizza, which is an important cultural experience and possibly a merit badge in spirit.
- One of the focuses for the weekend will be trail food cooking, so scouts should be ready to learn how to eat well without bringing the entire kitchen.
- Pack light. We will need to lug all equipment to the campsite, and this is not the weekend to discover your scout packed three pillows, a cast iron skillet, and a decorative lantern.
- We hope not to lose any scouts along the way. Parents, please note that this is both a joke and a sincere logistical goal.
Come for the camping, stay for the pizza, and keep your buddy close enough that he does not accidentally join a different group.
👻 Bates Motel Haunted House and Hay Ride

- Troop 105 is planning a spooky night out at the Bates Motel haunted house and hay ride.
- Scouts should prepare for creepy scenes, jump scares, spooky hay ride moments, and at least one person pretending they were “totally not scared.”
- This is a tentative event, so details may change as we get closer.
- More information will be shared once plans are finalized and we confirm whether the Scoutmaster is brave enough to go first.
Bring your courage, your friends, and maybe one scout who screams loudly enough to scare the monsters back.
🏒 Scout Night With the Philadelphia Flyers

Details:
- Troop 105 is heading to Philadelphia for Scout Night with the Flyers.
- We will watch the Flyers face off against the Edmonton Oilers in what should be a very cool night of hockey.
- This is a chance to see Connor McDavid, one of the best hockey players in the world, in action. Even if you are not a hockey expert, this is like seeing a bear ride a bicycle while solving a Rubik’s Cube. You should probably pay attention.
- If we are lucky, we may also catch a peek at Gritty, Philadelphia’s beloved orange chaos monster.
- Everyone attending will receive a Flyers related souvenir of the night.
Come for the hockey, stay for the souvenir, and keep an eye out for Gritty. He is basically what would happen if a the Phanatic drank toxic waste and joined a hockey league.
🏕️ Chester County Council Fall Camporee
Date: November 6 to 8, 2026

Activity: Scout skills, outdoor challenges, obstacle courses, archery, and camporee fun
Location: Camp Horseshoe, Rising Sun, MD
Details:
- Troop 105 will be heading to Camp Horseshoe for the Chester County Council Fall Camporee and a weekend of scout skills, outdoor challenges, and good old fashioned camporee chaos.
- Scouts may try lighting fires using every method except the one their Scoutmaster taught them, because apparently instructions are just friendly suggestions.
- Activities may include obstacle courses, archery, and possibly even cupcake decorating, because nothing says rugged outdoor adventure like frosting.
- Bring warm clothes. November camping can get chilly, and “I packed one hoodie” is not a survival plan.
- Do not worry, we will have everyone home in time for Diwali.
Come ready for fun, teamwork, and the proud moment when your scout explains that the smoke was “part of the plan.”
🎓 Archmere Merit Badge College
Date: Session 1 is November 14, 2026. Session 2 is February 20, 2027.

- Scouts must attend both Session 1 and Session 2. This is not a “pick your favorite Saturday and hope for the best” situation.
- Session 1 takes place on November 14, 2026.
- Session 2 takes place on February 20, 2027.
- Registration opens September 9.
Details:
- Scouts will have the opportunity to work on merit badges through the Archmere Merit Badge College.
- Families should review the program guide before registration so scouts can choose badges that fit their interests, schedules, and ability to stay awake in a classroom after lunch.
- Some merit badges may have prerequisites, so please read the guide carefully. “I did not know” is not quite as powerful as “I came prepared.”
- Registration opens September 9, and classes may fill up, so do not wait until your scout casually mentions it from the back seat in mid November.

🪶 Order of the Arrow Brotherhood Blitz

Details:
- This event is for current Order of the Arrow Ordeal members who have been active for at least 6 months.
- Scouts will have the opportunity to earn their Brotherhood, which is the next step in their OA journey.
- The Brotherhood Blitz will take place at Camp Horseshoe from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
- This is for OA Ordeal members only, so if your scout has no idea what this means, they are either not eligible yet or they have mastered the ancient scout art of selective listening.
OA members, this is your chance to take the next step. Show up prepared, bring your cheerful service spirit, and maybe do not wait until the car ride there to ask what Brotherhood means.
🎄 Troop 105 Holiday Party

- Troop 105 will gather for our annual holiday party, location still to be determined.
- Expect a fun and chaotic evening with scouts, families, and the kind of energy that suggests someone definitely had too many cookies.
- More details will be shared once the location and plans are finalized.
- For now, mark your calendar and prepare for holiday cheer, scout fellowship, and at least one moment where an adult quietly asks, “Whose idea was this?”

🎓 Elkton Merit Badge College
Date: Session 1 is January 9, 2027. Session 2 is March 13, 2027.

- Scouts should plan to attend both Session 1 and Session 2. Merit badges do not usually finish themselves..

- Scouts may purchase lunch or bring their own. Choose wisely. A scout fueled only by vending machine snacks is still technically a scout, but results may vary.
Details:
- Elkton Merit Badge College is a popular event for Troop 105 because it offers a large variety of merit badges.
- This is a great opportunity for scouts to work on badges that match their interests, goals, and ability to sit still just long enough to learn something useful.
- Parents often carpool to this event, which is helpful because Elkton is about an hour and 15 minutes from Exton.
- Families should review the event information carefully so scouts are prepared for prerequisites, supplies, lunch plans, and class choices.

⛷️ Blue Mountain Ski Trip

Status: Scheduled as a day trip, but that may change
Details:
- Troop 105 is heading to Blue Mountain for a winter ski adventure.
- Ski lessons will be available for beginners, so scouts do not need to arrive knowing how to gracefully fly down a mountain. Falling is part of the learning process. So is getting back up while pretending you meant to do that.
- Equipment rental is available for scouts who need skis, boots, or other gear.
- There is a cafe on site that serves food, which is helpful because skiing burns calories and also creates a powerful craving for fries.
- Be sure to wear warm clothes. January on a mountain is not the time to test whether one hoodie can defeat winter.
Come ready for snow, slopes, and the proud scout tradition of learning something new while wearing giant boots.
🏅 Annual Court of Honor

Details:
- Troop 105 will gather for our Annual Court of Honor to recognize all of the ranks and merit badges our scouts have earned over the past year.
- We will also celebrate our newest Eagle Scouts and their families, which is a pretty big deal. Actually, it is a very big deal. Cue the applause and possibly a proud parent trying not to cry into their coffee.
- Every scout and every parent should attend. This is one of those troop events where showing up really matters.
- A hot breakfast buffet will be served, because recognizing achievement is important, but recognizing achievement with eggs and bacon is even better.
Come hungry, come proud, and come ready to celebrate a year of hard work, growth, and scouts doing impressive things despite occasionally forgetting where they put their neckerchief.
🥶 Cabin Camping at Camp Rodney
Date: February 26 to 28, 2027
Type: Cabin Camping
Activity: Scout skills, fire building, possible service hours, and winter camping fun
Location: Camp Rodney, North East, MD
Details:
- Troop 105 is heading back to one of our favorite places, Camp Rodney, for a February cabin camping weekend.
- We will be freezing our butts off in the great outdoors, but at least we will be doing it with cabins nearby, which feels like civilization if you squint hard enough.
- Scouts can expect to work on scout skills, practice fire building, and maybe even earn a few service hours.
- No tents are needed for this trip, unless your scout is chasing camping nights and has decided that February is the perfect time to make brave life choices.
- Bring warm clothes. Then bring warmer clothes. Then ask yourself whether you packed enough warm clothes, and the answer is probably still no.
Come ready for cold weather, warm fires, scout skills, and the kind of weekend that builds character one frozen toe at a time.
